Spray-Applied Liner Systems

Spray-applied polyurethane and polyurea geomembrane materials can be formulated for specific jobs. The final chemical resistance can be adjusted by changing the formulation of the input chemicals that combine to make the final geomembrane. Chemical resistance can be "adjusted" for different applications when required. The standard formulations of spray-applied lining materials are highly chemical resistant; however if you are trying to contain a chemical that is not listed for that formulation a new formulation can be prepared. Spray-applied geomembranes are thermosetting polymers that cure after application. This is quite different from the thermoplastic materials used in most sheet liner materials. A thermoset plastic has extended chemical resistance and often can handle chemical containments at higher temperatures. Often a spray-applied liner will be called for when service temperatures are higher than a sheet liner can handle. Spray-applied liners can be used to contain or provide secondary containment for most oil and petroleum products, pesticides and herbicides, hydrocarbon solvents, sulfur and related compounds, chlorinated solvents, alkalis and acids, animal waste, and salt solutions.
